Our adult hurling seconds got their Junior B Hurling Championship underway on Thursday by grinding out a seven point win over Blackhall Gaels in Kilcloon.
On a perfect evening for hurling, Seán Ward got the scoring underway for the Moors, but the home side responded from the next puckout with a goal. Points from Jack Butler and a brace from Conor Carey put Don/Ash lads back in front but the home side again responded by finding the net on 10 minutes.
Butler and Ward raised two more white flags before Blackhall got their third goal of the half to retake the lead by two.
However, the Moors hit the next four points, three from the stick of Ward and another from Butler. A point from David Carr left the visitors ahead by one at the half.

Domhnach Mór Cill Dhéagláin 0-11 v 3-01 Blackhall Gaels
The Gaels hit the first point of the second half as the game tightened up again, with both sides working hard in the conditions.
With 43 on the clock, Don/Ash found the net twice in the space of a minute. First, a long ball in appeared to be going wide only for Carey to get a flick on it to not only keep it in but find the net. From the next puck out, great work from the Don/Ash half-back line turned the Gaels over, and the ball came to Carey again. Despite not having a stick in his hand, he managed to find the bottom corner of the net with a kick.
To their credit, the home side responded very well, narrowing the gap from six down to one as they hit five unanswered points. The Don/Ash bench came into play then, though, as youth and experience combined with a point from Sean McKenna backed up by Carey completing his hat trick. Three more scores from Butler were sandwiched around a point from the returning Fiach Ó Loingsigh, who rounded off the scoring to seal a seven-point win.
The victory sets up a winner-takes-all all clash with Kilmessan on Wednesday week in the club.
