A late late Darragh O’Sullivan goal with the last kick of the game was enough for Donaghmore Ashbourne to take the victory in this Round 2 Feis Cup game on Monday night.
Both sides played some good fast football with the game fairly open and end to end throughout.
Mathew Crumlish opened the scoring for the visitors on 6 minutes but the home side levelled with an Eamonn Wallace point a minute later. The Ratoath goal came on 11 minutes when a long-range Bryan Mc Mahon effort fell short and was flicked into the Donaghmore Ashbourne net. Michael O’Sullivan did reply for Donaghmore Ashbourne with a point on 13 minutes.

Both sides had goal chances on 14 minutes with Shayne Brady pulling off a good save in a one-on-one situation and Donaghmore Ashbourne went up the field and Crumlish found himself in a similar position only to see his effort saved also.
The home side hit a purple patch and registered eight unanswered points between the 15th and 23rd minute to go 9 ahead and looked comfortable heading to the break.
However, a Darragh McGovern’s goal on 27 minutes reduced the deficit to 6 points before the sides traded points again before the interval with Michael O Sullivan pointing for the Moors.

Kevin Cully got the opening score of the second half with the first 2-pointer of the game on 33 minutes.
Ratoath cancelled this score with two consecutive converted frees on 37 and 42 minutes. Andrew Tormey replied with a free on 44 minutes and again the sides traded scores with Ratoath raising the white flag on 46 minutes and substitute Kevin Fenton pointing a minute later as his effort grazed the crossbar on the way over. Ratoath’s penultimate score came in the 50th minute with another converted free to extend the gap to 6 points.
As the game entered the closing stages Sean Tyrrell and Jamie Browne reduced the deficit to 2 points with two well taken 2-pointers on 51 and 54 minutes respectively.
Kevin Fenton reduced the deficit to the minimum on 57 minutes when Andrew Tormey took a quick free and Fenton converted. The sides were level on 58 minutes when another substitute Killan Hogan pointed, and it looked like the sides were going to share the spoils.
The closing minutes was end to end and when Ben Wier pointed on 61 minutes it looked as if Ratoath had done enough to claim the victory. However, with the last play of the game Donaghmore Ashbourne went down the field and somehow Darragh O’Sullivan manged to find the bottom corner of the net with the last kick of the game to come away with the win.
