With an early morning pitch inspection giving the all clear in Milltown this morning the U8 boys of Donaghmore Ashbourne arrived at their home away from home.
With our local friendly rivals ratoath making the short journey over today.
In beautiful morning sunshine and a calmness in the air the green and white jerseys formed the team huddle. With the final instructions being delivered and with intent in their eyes the roar of donaghmore ashbourne sent a clear message to our opponents today.
From the start and even with the ever building breeze our teams got to grips and on top of their games quite quickly. With 9 matches in total and the support play, team work and effort put in by all 28 players was capped only by a passage of play worthy of the Sunday game. From an accurate kickout to his team mate and 4 passes to move the ball up the field to the forwards and when faced with three defenders and the chance of a score he jinked past one, a hop and solo combo left the second defender wondering what happened and cut inside the third to score a brilliant team score involving 6 players.
Fantastic support from the sidelines as always and the lads thrive on it.
Our three referees Roisin, Clodagh and Lesley Ann kept all the matches running perfectly and are a huge asset to the club.
