Pitch 2 was the place to be to witness a hurling masterclass this morning.
After a week of it’s on it’s off we decided to run a training match due to travel restrictions on our Dublin neighbours and our Meath opposition unable to play.
Health checks done, helmet straps clicked, hurls at the ready and mascots all set.
With the mentors coffee arriving right on time the stage was set.
4 teams chomping at the bit for the whistle and not to be outdone Davey Gaughen rolled back the years and stepped up a level to play U8 hurling in goal this morning.
Hurling is in full flow throughout this team and displays of individual skill and team play was phenomenal to watch. Hooking, blocking and tackling.
Points from 65's. Sideline cuts sailing through the air. You name it we had it.
With the physio called into action for running repairs and splinters from fantastic blocking, it was a brilliant morning even without a travelling team to play us.
The morning was rounded off with bubbles blowing across the pitch from the u13 camogie girls which came as great amusement and goodie bags for all to reward the lads for all their hard work and effort.
Our journey continues on Thursday with training as we switch codes to football.
We are.
Stronger together.
Team mates together.
Donaghmore Ashbourne together.
