Level 3 restrictions won’t stop the juggernaut that is the U8 boys of Donaghmore Ashbourne. An earlier than normal start this morning as we headed to our second home, the community pitches in Milltown.
Beautiful sunshine and the smell of freshly cut grass only topped by the aroma of strong coffee greeted the 37 members of the squad as they arrived to their first Saturday training session in level 3 conditions.
Health checks done, hands sanitised, equipment sterilised and off we went.
Zone 1 was ball sense with plenty of fun games and we honed in on the 6 core football skills.
Zone 2 had plenty of goals, points, crossbar challenges, penalty kicks and dare I say some spectacular saves too!!!
With obstacle courses, sprint zones and finishing off with a 5 minute continuous fitness routine there was 37 ruby red faces by the time the “quickest hour ever” had passed.
Roll on Thursday when we get our hurley back into action and let’s see the results of all the practice at home.
