Donaghmore/Ashbourne  V  Summerhill played in Ashbourne.

HT Don/Ash 1-3  Summerhill 2-6

FT  Don/Ash 2-8  Summerhill 4-10

Donaghmore Ashbourne started well with plenty of possession but couldn't make it pay on the scoreboard.  Summerhill were first to get off the mark with the first score of the match on 5 minutes followed by a point from Simon Wilson to level but that was the last time that the home side were on level terms.  Summerhill got another point from a free followed by a goal from the penalty spot. Stephen Carton converted a free to go to first water break with a goal between the sides.  The homeside got through for a goal from Shaun Byrne to bring it back to 1 point but that was as close as it got.  Daragh McGovern pointed from play on 25 minutes to complete the scoring for the first half while Summerhill went on to score 1-4 with all but 1 point from play.  Iarlaith O'Donnell on his first night back from injury play well and a young Evan Quinn and Ethan Tormey completed the half back line. The full forward line of Summerhill with Davy Dalton and David Larkin were hard to handle.  Summerhill came to Ashbourne with intent and must have had enough to field at least 2 teams.

Summerhill continued to pile on the pressure in the 2nd half and outscored the homeside by 2-4 (1 Penalty) to 1-5.  The highlight for Don/Ash was a super well worked goal finished by Conor Carton.  Points from Daragh McGovern, Stephen Carton and a final score from Andrew Tormey.  Things could have been worse had Sean Hogan not saved a shot which was destined for the corner of the net but got a hand to it to put it out for a 45.  From the resulting 45 Sean went high to catch and clear the danger once again.   James Redmond went off 20 minutes into the match to add to the injury woes which have blighted our team.  No excuses Summerhill were the better team on the night and while they always looked stronger and never looked in danger of losing this match, it was an opportunity to try out some of our young players and give them the experience which hopefully will stand to them when it comes to championship later in the Summer.
