Venue Dunshaughlin
H/T Dunshaughlin 0-4 Donaghmore/Ashbourne 1-1
F/T Dunshaughlin 2-9 Donahgmore/Ashbourne 1-6
This was no exhibition of football from either team in the first half, Don/Ash registered their first score after 25 minutes of play while Dunshaughlin scored 3 of the 4 points from frees. The visitors had most of the possession but couldn't seem to get it between the posts and had at least half a dozen wides before Michael Deegan put the ball in the back of the net to level things up. Dunshaughlin got their first point from play after 28 minutes and Deegen put over a point from a free just before half time.
The teams swapped points again at the start of the 2nd half, Dunshaughlin with a point from play and Deegen scoring from a free followed by 2 points from play from Andrew Tormey and Deegan to put them up. Dunshaughlin went on to outscore the visitors 2-3 to 0-2 in the last 10 minutes of the game with Dylan Brady and Tormey completing the scoring for the night for what Don/Ash will definitely say was a bad night at the office. To add to the woes Colm O'Mealoid, Rodney Jones and Conor Carton all went off injured which will be a worry for the coming weeks in the lead up to championship. On a brighter note it was good to see Shane Melia back and our defence performed very well doing great work to curtail the scoring of Dunshaughlin in the first half. Iarlaith O'Donnell, Jason Boland and Evan Quinn all deserve a mention.
Don/Ash:- Jack Hannigan; Jason Boland, Iarlaith O'Donnell, Conor Carton; Rodney Jones (20 minutes injured), Shane Melia, Evan Quinn; Colm O'Mealoid (18 minutes injured), Cillian Hogan; Daragh McGovern, Michael Deegan (1-3 3f), Leo Reilly; Stephen Carton, Andrew Tormey (0-2 1f), Simon Wilson.
