Donaghmore/ Ashbourne v St. Peter's Dunboyne at 7.45pm in Ashbourne.

Half Time  Don/Ash 0-6  Dunboyne 2-3

Full Time   Don/Ash 0-9 Dunboyne 4-8

With Colm O'Mealoid on board we were all hoping for a good start for his first match as an Adult team manager but unfortunately we met probably the strongest team in Division 1. A very young Don/Ash team took on a Dunboyne team that looked very strong from the throw in but registered 2 wides before Faolain Smyth got the homeside on the board with the first point from play after 5 minutes.  2 minutes later Dunboyne were awarded a penalty which they converted followed by a point from play. Dunboyne continued to dominate and scored another goal and 2 points before the first water break. Luke Wilson scored a point from a free to leave it 0-2 to 2-3 at the water break.

Don/Ash added points from Luke Wilson (2) and Daragh O'Sullivan (1 F).  Dunboyne in the meantime added another goal and 3 points to the score 0-6 to 3-5 at half time.

It didn't get any better for the homeside after the interval unfortunately with Dunboyne bossing proceedings and outscoring Don/Ash by 1-2 to 3 points in the 2nd period.  Simon Wilson, Daragh O'Sullivan and Faolain Smyth added the 3 points.  On a positive note it was good to see Daragh O'Sullivan return after representing the club on the Meath U20 team. While our lads played well at stages it was tough to break down Dunboyne's defence who defended with a lot of men behind the ball. It was a tough night but Aaron McLoughlin, Matt Crumlish and Rodney Jones showed best for the backs with the latter going off injured in the 2nd half.  Cillian Hogan also left the field in the first half with an ankle injury,  We wish them the very best in their recovery.  We need the lads to pick themselves up and go on to show us what they are really made of in the next round of this Premier Championship.

Don/Ash:-  Jack Hannigan, Aaron McLoughlin, Jack Giles, Rodney Jones; David Carr, Cillian Hogan, Matt Crumlish; Chris Brady, David Keenan; Luke Wilson (0-3 1f), Faolain Smyth(0-2), Daragh O'Sullivan (0-3 2f); Simon Wilson (0-1). Sam Benville, Luke Barrett.  Subs:-  Ethan Tormey for Hogan, Joe Magee for Keenan, Kevin Cully for Jones
