Donaghmore/Ashbourne had a comprehensive win over a young Skryne team by 3.18 to 8 points. Simon Wilson scored after 4 mins with nicely taken point followed by Sam Benville, Ruari McCann and Faolain Smyth. Faolain Smyth then scored Don Ash first goal after Simon Wilson hit the cross bar and Faolain converted the rebound. The side shared points just before the water break with another fine effort from Simon.
The home team led 1-5 to a point at the water break and when the match resumed Don Ash increased their lead with another good point from Faolain Smyth. A free was converted by Skryne followed by an excellent effort by Shane Rea. Luke Barrett then thought he got in for Don Ash’s second but it was ruled out for push in the buildup. Luke Then got on the score sheet after a great pass from Luke Wilson. Don Ash’s second goal did arrive after Luke Wilson intercepted Skrynes kickout who combined with Ruari McCann for a great. Faolain Smyth then scored another point just before halftime with the score 2-9 to 2 points.

Don Ash started the second half with a well taken goal by Simon Wilson within 30 second of the Throw in followed up with a nicely taken point by his brother Luke. David Keenan came on for Ruari McCann. Skrynes Number 11 Jason Reddy scored two with Joe McGee scoring a sublime point in between. Luke Barrett then hit the post and he was not destined to get a goal at this match. Jack McCarney came on for Colin Lynch and then followed a well worked point after passes from Ethan Tormey to Faolain to Luke and converted by David Keenan quickly followed by a converted free from a tricky angle by Faolain Smyth. Jason Reddy from Skryne converted a 45 just before the water break to leave the score 3.13 to 6 points
David Keenan was coming more into the game and he handpassed to Simon Wilson who converted for a nice point. At this point Skryne had a goal chance which was well defended by the Don Ash backs ably marshalled by Jack Giles on his last match before emigrating and we wish him all the best on his journey. Kevin Cully then passed a great ball after riding a strong challenge to Shane Rea who scored a nice point. The good passing continued when David Keenan converted after good work by David Carr and the impressive Faolain Smyth.
Another score for Skryne was followed by another Smyth point after an excellent dummy by Sam Benville. Reddy get scored again from a free for Skryne followed by a great score by Joe McGee combining with Faolain again.
This was a good performance by Donaghmore Ashbourne with scores distributed across the team whilst the backs defended very well and snuffed out any danger from Skryne. Jack Hannigan may not have had the busiest of time but his kickout were consistent and accurate.
