Half Time Score Seneschalstown 0-3 Donaghmore Ashbourne 4-11
Full Time Score Seneschalstown 0-9 Donaghmore Ashbourne 5-18
Within 30 seconds of the whistle blown for start of match Don/Ash had got off to the best possible start with a goal from Simon Wilson which was set up by Kevin Cully who throughout the match was instrumental in the winning of this match and went on to score a goal himself after 2 minutes. Simon Wilson was on form and finished with a personal tally of 3-5 all from play. The home side got on the board after 13 minutes with a point from a free. By the first water break it was 2-3 to 0-1 for the away team. Seneschalstown had kicked a few wides before they got on the board. Faolan Smyth, Danny Deery, Shane Rea and Sam Benville all adding to the score board and by half time this match was over as a contest with the score 4-11 to 0-3. Senchalstown did threaten during the match with near misses for goals and Joe Sheridan was awarded a penalty which was well saved by Jack Hannigan who is a safe pair of hands to have between the posts. Good play from Colin Lynch and Joe Magee winning ball in midfield and keeping the pressure on. It was an all round good performance from each and every player on this team with David Carr having the daunting task to manage Joe Sheridan and did a great job. Aaron McLoughlin made plenty of runs from corner back and Jack McCarney on the other side were solid. Our half back line with Killian Hogan holding the centre while our 2 wing backs added to the scoring with both Shane Rea and Ethan Tormey getting 2 points each from play. Sam Benville and Ruairi McCann played their part with the former adding 4 points to the tally. Luke Barrett was introduced just after half time for McCarney and David Keenan for Ruairi McCann. Seneschalstown did go on to score some realy good points from play but it just wasn't enough to make up for the goal fest that the visitors inflicted from the very start of this match. It was a good night for the Donaghmore/Ashbourne and hopefully they can go to the last round with plenty of confidence against Dunshaughlin.
