Donaghmore/Ashbourne 1 – 11, Skryne 0 – 14.
Donaghmore/Ashbourne and Skryne played out an entertaining draw at wet and windy Ashbourne on Saturday night. The home side will look back with regret on a number of wasted opportunities when playing with the aid of the elements in the first half. Darragh O’Sullivan accounted for six of his side’s scores as they held a 10 point to 3 advantage at half time.
As expected Skryne with the wind at their backs were on top in the second half scoring the first two points after the resumption. Midfielder James Redmond pulled one back but then eight points without reply left the team in blue two ahead with about five minutes remaining. A well taken goal by Kevin Fenton looked like giving Don/Ash a winning start but a pointed free in the last few seconds earned Skryne a deserved draw.
