On a perfect night for football Don/Ash had their first home match of the season, in front of a large crowd they recorded a fantastic win against the visitors.They welcomed back Meath county minor star Ciara Lawlor who was returning from injury. Seneschalstown opened the scoring on 8 mins with a point followed shortly afterwards with our 1st score from Abbie Timmons both teams swapped points with our 2nd coming from the boot of Catriona O’Shaughnessy.There then followed a dominant period from the Ladies with Abbie scoring &  just after hit the post with a goal chance.Ciara Doherty scored a fine individual point on 15mins & then we had another goal bound shot saved by the goalkeeper.Catriona scored a great point on 18mins.Great pressure was put on the Seneschalstown kick out which resulted in more chances been created.A great block from Sarah O’Connor was followed by a sweeping move up the field which finished with a fine goal from Abbie,from the kick out the Ladies again won possession with Abbie again finishing to the net in the 20th min. 5 minutes later Aoibheann Short made a great run through the Seneschalstown defence and finished with a super point.In the 29 min a throw up by the referee resulted in a great catch by Maire O’Shaughnessy who won a free which was duly dispatched by her sister.On the stroke of half time a brilliant point blank save from Róisín Williams denied Meath star Stacey Grimes  a certain goal. Half time Don/Ash 2-7Seneschalstown 0-3. Seneschalstown started the 2nd half in a blistering fashion and had the margin down to 5 within 5 mins.A superbly taken penalty by Abbie calmed the nerves shortly after,another goal by Seneschalstown was followed by a Ciara Lawlor point and a well taken goal by Ciara Doherty after a great move.Our defence played superbly in the final quarter to restrict Seneschalstown to 2 points .Katie Carragher ably assisted by Sarah O’Connor & Aoisle Lawlor thwarted the Seneschalstown attack on many occasions.Our halfback line Hannah Keogh, Aoibhin Cleary & Clodagh Millington worked tirelessly throughout.Aoibhin charging forward at every opportunity.Maire always on hand to cut out any threat.Claire Mullen in midfield always available  to receive a pass.Aoibheann Short covered every blade of grass.Jenny Dowling  put in a huge display and capped it with a fine point.Great to have Ciara Lawlor back & she proved what a great asset she is to this team.Meath star Stacey Gromies was in superb form for Seneschalstown. All in all a hugely positive performance from the team next up Royal Gaels in 2 weeks.
