Group C Senior Championship Round 3 in Duleek at 7.30pm.

H/T Don/Ash 1-5 Simonstown 0-4

F/T  Don/Ash 3-11 Simonstown 0-7

Even though neither of these teams could make it through to playoffs having lost their first 2 games in Group C, it was still very important to get a positive result and come out with a win.

Don/Ash started well and went into a lead with Jamie Browne and Bryan Menton firing over.  Sean Curran driving down from half back sent a good ball in to Kevin Fenton who quickly passed to Daragh McGovern and hit the back of the net with a fine goal after very good play. Dylan Brady took a nice point off his trusty left foot from an awkward angle to go 1-3 up. There was 15 minutes on the clock before Simonstown registered their first score which as a point from Ben Hoey. Evan Quinn was fouled while making a great run towards goal but the resulting free was put wide. Don/Ash were guilty of several good chances in the first half which were wayward. Kevin Fenton who has been performing really well this year sent over another point on 20 minutes and Bryan Menton finishing  the half with a fine score to add another point on the board. Simmonstown tagged on 2 more before half time, a 2nd point from a free from Andrew Carney and another from play. Jack Hannigan made an important save that would have let Simmonstown back into the match at a vital time before half time.

Half time score 1-5 to 4pts.

Don/Ash continuing to dominate all over the field with Jamie Browne converting a free, Thomas McGovern, Shane Melia and Daragh Mc Govern putting over some fine scores in between Simmonstown getting 1 point from play Shane Barry.  Donaghmore/Ashbourne rang the changes with Shaun Byrne replacing the injured Iarlaith O’Donnell and super sub James Crumlish making his entry felt when finishing with 2-1 from play in the last 15 minutes. Colin Lynch replaced Kevin Cully who was having a good game but picked up an unfortunate yellow card. Stephen Carton on for Brady, who was on a flying visit back from Abu Dhabi where he will spend time teaching over the next year and we wish him well.  Overall it was a good performance and this will be needed more than ever now as we go into the relegation draw on Monday night. Shane Melia performed well and good to see him back to his best. Simonstown finished with 7 points to Don/Ash 3-11.
