Under 13 LGFA Division 6
St.Colmcilles V Donaghmore Ashbourne
The 2011 girls travelled to Pilltown to face St.Colmcilles in the first league match of the season. All the hard work in pre-season training really paid off, as they faced a really tough opponent. Cilles got off to a good start by scoring the first point, but the girls settled the early nerves by taking some fine scores. A dominant first half by the Ashbourne girls meant they took a healthy lead into the break.
St.Colmcilles started brightly in the second half by scoring a fine point. And they could have easily scored more on the day if it wasn't for the rock solid defence of Donaghmore Ashbourne. The girls continued to work hard and there were some excellent skills displayed right through the match. The latest skill that the girls have been working on in training is the near hand tackle, and this resulted in plenty of turn overs of possession to the delight of the mentors and supporters. Cilles struggled to close the gap as the 2011 girls continued to take some excellent scores. Well done to both teams for putting on a great performance for everyone watching. Next week, the girls welcome St.Patricks to Ashbourne. @meathlgfa
