H/T St. Colmcille's 0-3  Donaghmore/Ashbourne 0-8

F/T  St Colmcille's  0-15  Donaghmore/Ashbourne 0-12

There will be nobody more disappointed than the Donaghmore/Ashbourne  team and management after tonights match in Piltown.  Going from being 7points to 0 up, with St Colmcilles getting their first point on the board after 23 minutes in the first half.  Darragh O'Sullivan got off to a flying start when firing over the bar with 3 minutes on the clock and catching a mark and putting same over the bar off his left foot.  Darragh put another over after some great play from the forwards and a Dylan Brady pass to go 3 up after less than 5 minutes.  Dylan pointed himself on 11 minutes.  St. Colmcille's were guilty of several wides but were being put under pressure by the Don/Ash backs with some great blocks coming from James Redmond and Oisin Daly.  Aaron McLoughlin was also very busy at corner back.  Andrew Tormey converted from a free kick which was awarded when Darragh O'Sullivan was taken down. It was 5 pts to 0 and everything seemed to be going well for the visitors who were playing some really good fast moving football.  Bryan Menton and Kevin Cully were winning alot of kickouts with Sean Curran, Cillian Hegarty and Matt Crumlish keeping threats from St. Colmcille's to a minimum when they pointed from play for their first score coming from the boot of the No 4 Karl Mullen to get them on the board on 23 minutes but that was after Kevin Cully who pointed after a good pass from Tormey.  Leo Reilly also put over a fine point to make it 7 points to nil.  Cilles were starting to put some moves together and scored another 2 points on 24 and 27 minutes, before Andrew Tormey pointed again from a free just before half time. Andy Colgan was finding his men with the kickouts and all seemed to be going to plan.  While Cilles were guilty of some wayward shots from both frees and play, Don/Ash also kicked some wides of their own and probably should have been further ahead at half time.

From the throw in for the 2nd half Don/Ash were pressing again and Leo Reilly pointed with just a minute on the clock.  Sean Leonard pointed for Cilles before Matt Crumlish who had made some great runs from half back came in on the end of a pass which saw the Cilles Goalkeeper Beakey pull off a fantastic save and put over the bar.  It was 10 points to 4 but Cilles were the ones who were playing all the football and with Biggy Reilly introduced at half time and controlling the midfield he was instrumental in bringing them back into this match.  He took 2 great points from play and it was back to 10 pts to 6 with 40 minutes gone.  Andrew Tormey put over 1 from a free and another from play and it was a 3 point match 12 pts to 9pts and 52 minutes gone.  From that time it was all Cilles and they scored 6 points 2 from frees and 4 from play to make a huge comeback from a 7point deficit in the first half.  As quoted on their twitter feed it was the first ever win in Senior Division 1 against the Mighty Moors and was well deserved.   Having played some great football for 40 minutes it was hard to pin point why Don/Ash couldn't push on but started to pass the ball back and forward across the field and were not making the off the shoulder runs they had been making in the first half.  Biggy Reilly was certainly a factor as he controlled most ball which went from the back to forwards.  Cilles did pack their defence in the 2nd half which certainly stopped the visitors from scoring as freely as in the first half but it was disappointing to see such a turn around.  Hopefully we will learn from our collapse in the 2nd half to make us stronger going forward.
