Donaghmore Ashbourne boys u9's played their first Football Challenge match of the 2020 Season on a bright and blustery Saturday morning. St Anne's Park was the venue for a tough encounter with C.L.G. Rath Éanna / Raheny GAA.

The 4g pitch was a fine surface to play on and the Ashbourne lads produced some excellent displays throughout the three matches.

The wind was a significant issue for both teams as it impacted on the flow of the games and forced lots of short passes and hard running. The slight rule changes from last year were rigorously enforced by the referees which caught a few players out initially, but they adjusted well. Plenty to work on going forward but overall a very satisfactory mornings work.

19 players took to the field for DonAsh which is a fine showing so early in the Season.

We return to training next Saturday at 11am on Milltown pitch. New players of all abilities are always welcome.
