161 days since the U8 boys of Donaghmore Ashbourne took to the pitch to play a go games match.

Goals made pitches marked out. New footballs and bibs at the ready. Health checks confirmed and hands sanitised the stage was set.

With a light drizzle this morning to make pitch 1 perfect for playing on and right on cue just before throw in the sun made a welcome appearance.

A new elbow touching huddle formed and final words of encouragement delivered to eager and determined players and what a roar in the huddle to make sure all knew who was playing.

A fiercely contested throw in signaled the measure of the morning. We were treated to a show of skills and flair today with diving blocks, one handed catching, both feet soloing, jinking, sidestepping and this was all before the first water break. Points, goals support play and movement was superb today. 10 very proud mentors today and the future is in safe hands with this team.
