Dear Member,
As you are aware, thanks to your generous support and hard work over the last number of years, we have constantly been improving our club grounds and facilities to cater for our current and future members. Our membership numbers have risen sharply in the last 5 years and we currently have over 1250 playing members. We predict that these numbers will continue to rise as the population in Ashbourne increases. The Executive and the development committee have been looking at various projects to increase out training and match areas so that all current and future members have a quality experience when they are in the club
In recent times the following key developments have been done:
- New Gym
- In conjunction with Milltown Trustees the development of Milltown Pitches
- Upgrading of ACS pitches
- Continued Upgrading of Pitch 1 surface
Astro Pitch Development:
Our next development is an all-weather 3G Juvenile pitch which is now underway and due to complete in early November 22. The pitch is a 90m x 60m, fenced, high-grade all-weather astro turf pitch which extends the length of our previous juvenile Pitch 3. This upgrade will also include training lights and in Phase 2 a ball wall will be installed at the far end of the pitch. This will allow ball wall work in both the 3G pitch and in the training area.
This development will enhance both playing and training needs for members all year round but particularly in the winter months. Without this new facility our increasing number of teams would have limited and restricted access to training and pitches for matches.
As we do not have the full funds to pay for this development, we are reaching out to our membership to help with the costs. These costs are quite substantial and so far, the executive have secured a capital grant of €116K, a Croke Park loan of €100K and €50K from club finances. This leaves around €100k that is required from fundraising for phase 1 and €60k for phase 2. We plan to apply for a further Capital grant for Phase 2 at the appropriate time.
To support our club’s fundraising efforts and enable completion of the Astro pitch by early November, we are asking all members and families to choose from the following donations as a way to support:
Bronze Level €100
Silver Level €250*
Gold Level €500*
(*donations of €250 and above can have tax reclaimed from the revenue by the club for PAYE workers at no extra cost to the donor).
